To fight avoidable blindness in Morocco by providing high-quality surgical care, free of charge, to underprivileged populations. We work every day to restore independence and dignity to those who thought they had lost their sight forever.

In Morocco, sight is not a privilege, it is a right.

Our Mission
Al Bassar Association works against avoidable blindness in Morocco by providing free surgical care, strengthening local medical capacities, and mobilizing volunteers across the Kingdom.
In Morocco, tens of thousands of people suffer from severe visual impairment, many of whom are affected by cataracts—the leading cause of blindness in the country. The risk of losing sight is significantly higher in rural areas and underprivileged communities, where access to care remains insufficient or even non-existent. Without organized collective action, demographic growth and an aging population will place an even heavier burden on the most vulnerable families.
Founded in Casablanca in 2008, with headquarters at 15 Rue Cadi Iyyas, Al Bassar Association was established specifically to prevent this scenario—because solutions exist, they are accessible, and they change lives in less than thirty minutes. We focus our actions on the most disadvantaged Moroccan populations, too often left on the margins of the healthcare system, by guaranteeing them access to comprehensive, free, and high-quality eye care.
